“Professional” Ansaru to join “grass-roots” Boko Haram sect?
A French engineer held hostage for 11 months by Islamist radicals in Nigeria has returned to France.
A plane carrying Francis Collomp, accompanied by France’s Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, landed yesterday at a military airport
outside Paris.
The 63-year-old looked emaciated and extremely tired.
He is set to be debriefed by the DGSE, France’s external intelligence agency.
The kidnapping was claimed by Ansaru, an extremist group linked to Boko Haram.
RFI’s Michel Arseneault spoke to Marc-Antoine Pérouse de Montclos, the author of a forthcoming book titled “Boko Haram: Islamism, Politics, Security, and the State in Nigeria.”
